C-NS boys, girls track and field teams take down F-M

Cicero-North Syracuse won an early-spring battle between Central New York track and field heavyweights Wednesday, sweeping perennial national contender Fayetteville-Manlius. Both the Northstars boys’ squad and girls’ group were victorious by scores of 92-49.  C-NS senior Jeremiah Willis - the reigning Gatorade Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year for New York - dominated the competition, securing four wins on the day, including three individual events. Willis took first in the 100-meter dash (11.60), 200-meter dash, (24.10), and long jump (20′2″), while being a member of the victorious 400-meter relay team.  Other multiple-event winners for the Northstars’ boys’ team were Isiah Wright, who won the 110 high hurdles (16.60) and triple jump (38′7.25″), and Samuel Nessel, who was first in the 400-meter run (52.60) and was a part of the 1,600-meter relay-winning group (3:44.80).  The C-NS girls were led by a quartet of student-athletes who picked up multiple victories. Julianna Hutt’s three wins came in the 100-meter dash (14.00), 200-meter (28.20), and 400-meter relay (52.70).  Brooke Blaisdell, Savannah Kuhr, and Stephanie Webb each picked up a pair of wins. Blaisdell was a member of the 400-meter relay-winning team with Hutt and also captured first in the triple jump (34′8.5″), Kuhr won the 100- (16.30) and 400-high hurdles (1:12.50), and Webb was victorious in the shot put (26′0″) and discus (70′2″).
